Eliminating
the task of manually switching cables, relay devices act as on-off bus
switches to connect and disconnect individual remote terminals or entire
bus segments to/from a bus network. Reconfiguring bus components is accomplished
by simply applying low voltage to the relay device’s D-subminiature connector.
Examples
of relay device applications are:
- Switching a bus
tester between two buses.
- Segmenting a bus
between a controller and two remote terminals allowing either terminal
to be addressed by the controller.
- Switching a remote
terminal on or off from a coupler stub.
